When there is a new arrival in the family, it is important to remember not to focus all the attention on the new born baby and neglect other siblings. Depending on their age, they may struggle to accept their new brother or sister if they are used to being the only child. Especially if in the early stages, when the new baby is being visited by friends and family alike, all bringing gifts and showing them with attention.
This is why it is probably a good idea to treat siblings, so they do not feel left out. It does not have to be an expensive gift, but just a little something to make them feel special too. Perhaps a momento to help them  remember the occassion when they first met their little brother of sister!
